Sometimes it takes a visual example to get an idea across. Can you look but not judge? Can you see but not react?  We were talking about how people view things differently, and the need to be compassionate and respectful, open-minded and understanding of other people’s views, yet not let someone push you off your path if what you feel in your heart / gut is strong. The timing of course was perfect as I showed her this super smart “bicycle… Read more »

My scar makes me happy. That could sound strange to a lot of people, but it’s the truth. Like the stem of a flower, it keeps me grounded and growing. It represents the most challenging hurdle I’ve faced: Crohn’s Disease. I understood that even in the depths of survival, if I had a positive attitude, I could do anything. I don’t choose to attach my scar to painful memories anymore. I choose to see the scar pointing upwards, as my own personal “yad”, guiding me to… Read more »

by: Steven (age 15) No one understands. No one can help. Here I am crying in silence, lost in a world of my own creation.  I stay here all day and night, but there is no difference. Time passes indistinctly; a blur of suffering and agony.  The only emotions to be found here are anger and sadness. There is no end to my tears, I cannot break free. I have tried before, only to be rejected by this uncontrollable mind… Read more »

My goal is to help people feel stronger, healthier, happier on the inside, to help guide others to free themselves of their limitations… Read more »

I feel the same way as Marty (see story below)… we need to appreciate what we have in our lives and not compare it to others, or to that which we don’t have. We need to realize we have choices, that each one of us is responsible for our own happiness and that waiting for someone else to “make us happy” will only lead to disappointment, sadness and resentment.  When you let go of blaming others for your happiness, it… Read more »

This was written in 2008 My family rescued a dog from New Leash on Life, named Jazz. Jazz was abused and had a rough life like me. It’s like he knows exactly what I’ve gone through even though he hasn’t been here all of my life, only for a little over a year. I feel a connection with Jazz like we had the same life. When I get mad I look at him and smile. Jazz brightens up my day… Read more »
